I decided to post my testimony because I read a thread asking that since it was slow today, that's what we should do.
I was raised in a Christian home with 12 brothers and sisters. We didn't have much, but my parents made sure we were brought up in the church. That doesn't mean we all went that way, but I was baptized at about 12 years of age thinking that is all I needed.
When I went to Oklahoma at 19 years of age, a girl I had met invited me to a Starlight Crusade at First Southern Baptist Church in Del City, OK. I went the first night and sat there enjoying the special music and preaching thinking that I was already saved. "I had went forward as a child and gotten baptized, so what else was I to do:. I had been a good child and was a good student. Not bothering anyone. So you can see I was still blinded to the truth. I read my bible regularly and prayed at times when things got hard, but none-the-less I really believed that I was saved.
Well on the second night of the crusade after witnessing my friend go down the night before (she had lived a very wild life, so I felt that she needed it. I had been a good person) That night the minister spoke on Ephesians where it talks about good works not saving you. Well that hit me, because I thought I was going to heaven because I had been good and did good for others. HOw wrong I was.
God had to break my heart to realize that I was lost and headed to hell. I went forward that night and gave my life to Christ and have been serving him ever since.
He bought my husband into my life at 38 years of age. The guys I had dated before I gave my life to the Lord, was never saved and once I received Christ as my Lord and Savior, I sought to look for only godly men. Friends and family member said I was setting my sight too high. Well I was determine to wait, until God sent the right guy and He did and I have never been sorry for waiting. He is the greatest. I am 48 years old now.
I would tell all single ladies to wait upon the Lord for that special guy who will treat them like a Queen.
Thanks for allowing me to post.
