I own a few shares of IESV. I like the concept. It solves several problems at once. It provides an environmentally superior way to take care of the smell and the overconcentration of heavy metals and nitrogen in the cow manure. The concept is very old but this company says they have licensed a proprietary method that speeds up the cycle AND creates methane with a higher energy content than previous anaerobic digesters.
The Magic Valley in Idaho is home to many dairy farms. The farms have been spreading the manure from big herds of cows onto their own and nearby land. Apparently there is a chemical plume that is spreading downwards towards the underground aquifer that supplies fresh water to the whole state of Idaho. Not only that but entering the Valley is not a pleasant experience because of the stench. So hopefully this company's first digester will work.
They intend to use the methane in a different way than previous attempts. They plan to take the methane and process it into a propane replacement or LNG replacement. This makes the economics much better. Normally the methane is used to run a generator that creates electricity for the farm and the surplus is sold to the power grid. Unfortunately Idaho has lots of hydro electric dams so electricity is very cheap. The digesters won't pay for themselves if used in this way. The company has signed a distribution deal with one of the biggest LNG distributors in the country to distribute the end product.
The company is an engineering company that has been paying for the design work with their engineering work. So they have been breaking even or slightly profitable. However, they have not published ANY financial projections about the digesters so I doubt that this is going to create an economic bonanza. It might pay for the digester construction in 6-10 years but I doubt it will make the company rich. There are competitors that are selling digesters to farmers for electric co generation. This one appears to be superior in output and their methodiology.
The gold mine is a leftover from some previous merger. Supposed to have a proven gold deposit that is economical at today's gold prices. I think there is a hitch. The company has the mineral rights but has to get the current landowners approval to get access to the land. I think this is going to reduce the financial amt they are going to get. We'll see. I hope it provides enough seed money to get IESV well on the way to several digesters in the Magic Valley.
If they sell the gold mine, the stock will likely jump. It will probably jump tomorrow on this news but they are about a month away from producing methane gas from the first digester. Then they intend to experiment with the first one to tinker with the details of operating the digester in the most efficient way. Commercial revenues are months away. Also they need several to produce enough gas to make decent money. They have a second farm that has agreed to install a digester. I don't know if the farmer is financing any of it or not. I think not. This is just a way for the farmer to get rid of the manure AND get free electricity. They will siphon off enough to run a generator for them.
It's cheap. I don't know if they can make money. I have asked for the financial projections but they haven't produced any for the public yet. Private investors have undoubtedly seen something or they wouldn't have bought stock.
I doubt it's going to make me rich but I like the idea. We need digesters at every dairy in America. Bobwins
